The Present El Sardinero Opened in 1988

The current Campos de Sport de El Sardinero opened on 20 August 1988 with Racing against Real Oviedo. It stands near Santander's beaches and replaces the older ground of the same name. Coastal weather and traffic around major matches make an early arrival sensible.
