Inside Real Club Celta de Vigo: Identity, Stadium and Rivalries

A practical introduction to the club behind the fixtures: what the colours mean, where home matches feel different and which dates carry extra weight.

Club identity

Celta Were Built to Represent Vigo and Galicia

Celta were formed in 1923 from the merger of Vigo Sporting and Fortuna with the ambition of creating a stronger Galician club. Sky blue became the unmistakable visual identity, while the Galician colours and symbols around the badge connect the team directly with its region.

Home matchday

Balaídos Is Changing Stand by Stand

Balaídos has been Celta's home since 1928 and remains embedded in Vigo. Continuing redevelopment, including work around the Gol stand, can change access and available sections. A current ticket is therefore more useful than an old stadium diagram when planning a match.

O Noso Derbi

Celta Vigo vs Deportivo

Celta against Deportivo is O Noso Derbi, the main Galician football rivalry between Vigo and A Coruña. Deportivo's official history records the first meeting at Riazor in 1924; the fixture returns to the La Liga calendar in 2026–27 after Deportivo's promotion.

Balaídos Form and the Returned Galician Derby

Celta supporters have two particularly clear season markers: results at the changing Balaídos and both league meetings with Deportivo. Use the current table position and confirmed final scores here, since unfinished rounds and stadium arrangements can still move.
